NAIROBI, Kenya, May 20 – Igembe South MP Mithika Linturi on Tuesday evening filed a Motion with the Clerk of National Assembly asking President Uhuru Kenyatta to dismiss Devolution Secretary Anne Waiguru.

The Motion says Parliament should impeach Waiguru for abusing the Constitution.

“This House resolves that pursuant to Article 152 (6) of the constitution, the President dismisses Ann Waiguru from the position of Cabinet Secretary for Devolution and Planning for gross misconduct and gross violation of the Constitution,” The Motion by Linturi – who is a member of President Kenyatta’s Jubilee Coalition – says.

He later told Capital FM News that he already has over 100 signatures from MPs, which surpasses the 88 required to impeach a Cabinet Secretary.

“Only 88 signatures are required and I over already over 100 signatures on the petition that I have filed with the Speaker of the National Assembly,” Linturi said.

In his Motion, he has accuses Waiguru of unfairly dismissing Kiplimo Rugut as National Youth Service Director-General and Gor Semelang’o as Chairman of the Youth Enterprise Fund.

“She appears to have misused her office and violated the law by abusing, intimidating and threatening public servants under jurisdiction: I am deeply concerned that such treatment especially in the case Semelang’o and Rugut in contravention of the Constitution led to their removal from offices held,” his Motion states.
