NAIROBI, Kenya, May 15 – Nairobi Governor Evans Kidero on Thursday embarked on a tour of various parts of the county following a decision of the Supreme Court to reinstate him pending hearing of an appeal against his ouster.

Speaking in Embakasi West constituency, Kidero reiterated the County Government’s commitment to provide efficient and effective service delivery to Nairobi residents.

He indicated that the County Government has began many projects that include street lighting, construction of stalls for hawkers and ensuring that the youth and women in Nairobi are well catered for.

“As other leaders, I will not look for a plot here and then register it in my name or the name of my child or even my neighbour. All those plots will go to the rightful owners. I want the title deeds of everyone who should get them to be processed as quickly as possible,” he ordered.

He further expressed his commitment to work well with Members of the County Assembly and all of City Hall’s staff in serving residents of Nairobi.

“As you can see, a lot of development has taken place here and we are still going to continue with the same process. I would also want to extend my thanks to all of you and we shall continue working together,” he said.

As leaders in Nairobi County Government, we will continue to work together regardless of political affiliation or tribe as long as we deliver efficient services to Nairobi residents.”

Speaking at a stopover in Umoja II, Embakasi West Legislator George Theuri (TNA) praised Kidero saying that he has done a lot during his one year in office from cleaning up the city to ensuring that the needs of both women and youths are addressed.

He further pointed out that the Governor always dealt with everyone fairly regardless of their political affiliation and was always ready to receive them well in his office.

“There is nothing as bad as starting afresh. Kidero has proved to be a true leader because every time we go to his office, he accommodates us well and does not look at us like people from TNA. He welcomes us warmly and he supports us. As traders here in Embakasi West, remember also that were it not for the Governor here, you would have been chased away already,” he said.

He further emphasised his commitment to working together with Kidero while underscoring the gains achieved by the County Government during his tenure.

“I want to tell you this that we are standing in unity with you without any fear. Without you, we would not have reached where we are. You looked after the interests of these traders and we are happy about that. Please continue with the same spirit because we believe that is what we believe will bring change in Nairobi,” he stated.

The Supreme Court has suspended Tuesday’s nullification of Kidero’s election and barred the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) from declaring the seat vacant.
