Government declares Monday a public holiday

, SIGNING-A-BILLNAIROBI, Kenya, May 30 – The Government has declared Monday, June 2, 2014, a public holiday since this year’s Madaraka Day falls on Sunday.

This is in accordance with the Public Holidays Act (Cap 110) of which Section 4 provides that if a national day falls on a Sunday, the following day will be a public holiday.

The declaration is contained in a special Kenya Gazette Notice issued on Friday.
