NAIROBI, Kenya, Apr 4 – President Uhuru Kenyatta arrived in Nairobi on Thursday night after an official visit to Brussels, Belgium where he attended the 4th Africa-European Union Summit.
The plane carrying President Kenyatta and his entourage touched down at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport shortly before 11pm.
He was received by Deputy President William Ruto and other senior government officials.
On the sidelines of the Brussels conference, the President met Presidents Francois Hollande of France and Yoweri Museveni of Uganda.
The meeting with Hollande discussed ways of intensifying bilateral relations between Kenya and France.
The two leaders agreed to boost cooperation between Kenya and France in trade and investment. The meeting also focused on cooperation in finance and tourism.
President Kenyatta, who is the current chairman of the East African Community, briefed President Hollande on the regional peace and security situation particularly in Somalia and South Sudan.
The two leaders agreed on military cooperation between Kenya and France supporting ongoing regional peace and security efforts.
President Hollande commended Kenya for its commitment to the implementation of the new Constitution, especially the rolling out of devolution.
President Kenyatta invited French companies to take advantage of the opportunities created by devolution and invest in counties.
