Local residents say the man who had separated with his wife stormed their home and demanded custody of their child.
Tom Obuya a resident says the woman resisted and raised alarm, the man then produced a knife stabbing his wife, the kid and three neighbours who had rushed to the help of the woman.
The five were rushed to Kisumu district hospital where they have been admitted in fair condition except one woman who is in critical condition.
Obuya says the man is also admitted to Jaramogi Oginga Odinga hospital after residents cornered him as he fled and seriously injured him.
“The man was running with a panga and a knife on his hands, when he sees someone before him he tries to cut them, when the resident saw this they threw stones at him and knocked him down he is also in a critical condition,” Obuya said.
Kisumu police boss Musa Kong’oli says they have received information and the suspect is being watched closely and will be charged in court once he is out of hospital.
