Kidero defends impeached Transport chief

On Thursday last week, a motion to discuss his conduct was tabled in the Assembly by Ngara MCA Chege Mwaura and speaker Magelo directed the motion could be debated.

Ondieki however told Capital FM News that his conscience is clear in the way he has conducted affairs of his office.

“I am not worried about anything since I conducted my affairs well and honestly. I have nothing to fear and I will now defend myself in the tribunal which is due to be formed,” he said.

The action by the County Assembly came just after the High Court declined to stop debate on the censure motion.

Justice Mumbi Ngugi however certified as urgent a case by two human rights activists Okiya Omtatah and Nyakina Wycliffe seeking to stop the censure motion.

Justice Ngugi said the court would have to hear County Assembly Speaker, Clerk of the County Assembly, the County Assembly and the Ethics and Anti Corruption Commissions response before it can issue any orders.

Consequently, the court directed the duo to serve their suit papers on the respondents and directed all parties to appear in court on Friday when further directions will be given.

The petitioners argued that the move by the City County Assembly to initiate a process to censure and impeach Ondieki was a deliberate scheme they have hatched to settle scores.
