“We are here to award the little girl for her exemplary performance at Sagana. Through this, Emily and her younger ones will be sponsored to university level in their education; her family will also receive a house of which we have paid rent for two years.”

“The Kiambu County government has also committed itself to source for a piece of land where we can eventually settle the family permanently,” Itumbi explained.

Itumbi reiterated President Kenyatta’s commitment to empowering the youth and encouraging them to nurture their talents to full potential.

“Team Uhuru and the President Kenyatta are very committed to empowering the nation’s youth as they are the leaders of tomorrow,” he added.

As Itumbi presented her with the donations, Njoki broke into tears saying that she was more than thankful that her decision to return home with her baby rather than continue roaming the streets has turned out to be her saving grace.

She recalled that without her daughter’s confidence and impressive performance she would probably still be in the streets or worse still, dead.

“We never thought that we would ever see our Emily on the television performing. I am overwhelmed by the support that we have received from the president, now we have better house.”

“It feels like a dream, Emily’s school fees is now catered for and I will no longer have to worry that she has not eaten because we have received food, I will now be able to go to school and learn how to better manage my money,” she added.
