NAMANGA, Kenya, Mar 24 – The Government will take decisive action against all those engaging in terror activities, President Uhuru Kenyatta has said.
The President said he was pained by the actions of criminals who opened fired on worshippers in a Mombasa Church on Sunday, adding that the Government will use all its machinery to ensure the perpetrators are brought to book.
“Your days are numbered and we will come for you,” said the President as he announced that security agencies will take the sternest of actions against those engaging in terror activities.
President Kenyatta, who spoke during stopovers on the Nairobi-Namanga road on his way to Arusha by road, emphasised that those aiding the terrorists in any way will also face the law.
“I want to be categorical here. We will not allow criminals to hide under the umbrella of religion to harm the people of Kenya. And we do not want people to say we are targeting a religion, we only want to bring to justice the criminals,” said the President.
He said sponsors of terror will never succeed to cause inter-religious strife in Kenya.
“Those who think they can use religion to kill and cause divisions I tell them, not in Kenya. Let them look for another country,” said the President when he addressed residents of Kitengela who lined up the highway and requested the President to address them.
He cautioned Kenyans against later complaining that the Government was targeting any particular religion when action to weed out terrorists is heightened.
Six people died when suspected terrorists rained bullets on worshippers in a Likoni church on Sunday.

Earlier last week police in Mombasa foiled a terror plot in which pipe bombs hidden in a car were to be used to attack an unspecified target in the coastal town.
At Kitengela, President Kenyatta said that the Jubilee Government has resolved to concentrate on serving Kenyans instead of politicking and asked other leaders to follow suit.
“Our citizens cannot eat politics in the morning, politics during the day and politics during the night,” he said.
The President said the Government has to work to deliver on the promises it made to Kenyans and does not have time to engage in endless politics.
Deputy President William Ruto, who accompanied the President up to the Namanga border point, said that they will not be distracted from their focus on development.
“We don’t want to talk politics. We want to talk about building roads, railway lines and medicine for our hospitals. That is the job we were elected for,” he said.
He said everyone in Government was committed to supporting the President in succeeding on the promises Jubilee made to Kenyans.
