KAJIADO, Kenya, Mar 25 –The Jubilee Government will work with all leaders who are focused on improving the lives of Kenyans, President Uhuru Kenyatta has said.

Saying the time for political rivalry is over, President Kenyatta urged leaders at all levels of government to concentrate on serving the people of Kenya irrespective of party affiliation.

“As leaders, we have a responsibility to work together in serving the electorate without discrimination because the people of Kenya expect nothing short of good services from their leaders,” President Kenyatta said.

He said this as leaders elected on ODM ticket led by Kajiado Central Member of Parliament (MP) Major Gen. (Rtd) Joseph Nkaissery announced they would support the Government in achieving its development goals.

President Kenyatta called on Kenyans to shun divisive politics and work together on projects that will impact positively on their lives.

The President spoke on Tuesday when he made stopovers at Maili Tisa and Ngatataek Trading Centres in Kajiado County on his way back to Nairobi from Arusha, Tanzania, where he addressed the East African Legislative Assembly (EALA) in his capacity as the current chair of EAC.

The President was received at Namanga Border post by Deputy President William Ruto and Kajiado leaders, among them Major Gen. (Rtd) Nkaissery.

On EAC integration, President Kenyatta said his visit to Arusha and his meeting with the officials of the EAC Secretariat was geared towards strengthening the regional body. The President assured Kenyans and their counterparts in the EAC member states that the integration journey the region has embarked on is unstoppable.

“We are moving swiftly towards removing all hurdles that prevented free interaction,” the President said.

Speaking after sharing lunch with the Maasai leaders at the home of Purko Ward Member of County Assembly, Nderi Ole Kipaika, outside Kajiado town, the President asked elected politicians to support Government to “prove to voters that they were never wrong in voting for Jubilee.”

Kajiado Governor Paul Ole Nkedianye, Senator Peter Korionko Mositet and Speaker of the County Assembly assured the President that they were taking all measures to protect public funds.

The leaders explained to the Head of State that the Members of County Assembly who were mostly from the Jubilee Coalition were working with the governor who was elected on ODM ticket to deliver on the Government’s development agenda.

“I like the spirit you have shown in accepting to work with the governor because unity will bring benefits all Kenyans regardless of their party affiliation. I also ask the governor to return the gesture shown by the other leaders” said the President.

Deputy President William Ruto who welcomed the President at the Namanga border revisited the issue of action against terrorists.

The Deputy President urged all Kenyans to join hands in ensuring the country was secure by exposing criminals living amongst them.
