FKE representing the Inter-Public Universities Councils Consultative Forum is seeking orders to compel the parties to agree to have discussions and arrive at a negotiated agreement.
The unions have threatened to go on strike over unmet pay deals with the government.
The officials claim university vice chancellors across the country have misappropriated part of Sh3.9 billion meant to pay deserving staff members.
The unions have also been saying they have been left with no option other than to boycott duties over what they termed as misappropriation of funds by the vice chancellors.
University Academic Staff Union Secretary General Muga Kolale at an earlier briefing to the media had said the implementation of their Collective Bargaining Agreement for 2012 was not honoured.
Kolale explained that the agreement settled for a total of Sh7.8 billion for the increment of salaries and house allowance for lecturers, which is yet to be awarded.
“It is our position that the CBA agreement has been flawed terribly and in order for justice to be visited on the university staff it must be implemented immediately,” he had said.
“If this is not done with immediate effect the universities will be plunged in industrial action and the university management and the ministry of education will be held responsible.”
