Speaking at Sachangwan Secondary School in Nakuru County on Sunday, Ruto said there is no need for any of the institutions to threaten the other, since their mandate is to serve Kenyans.
“All the leaders in the country both at the national and county government have a constitutional mandate to serve Kenyans and are accountable to the citizens,” Ruto said.
He pointed out that the government was focused on delivering its pledges to Kenyans and had no time for quarrels and side-shows.
“Those of us in the Jubilee coalition have no time for quarrels. We know that we have a mandate to transform this country and we shall not look back,” he said.
The DP’s statement comes after Chief Justice Willy Mutunga raised alarm over what he described as a rising threat to the independence of the Judiciary.
Ruto also said the misunderstanding between the lawmakers and Governors does not mean that devolution was under threat.
He said Kenyans were ready to move on and concentrate on their development activities, noting that time for empty rhetoric was over.
“We want to tell such leaders that days for noise making are over and Kenyans have decided to move on and concentrate on activities aimed at uplifting their living standards,” he said.
Meanwhile, the Deputy President has called for proper management of Sh6billion Uwezo Fund by those in charge of disbursement.
He put on notice all public officers tasked with the management of the money over any misuse, saying those who fail to ensure funds under their supervision are utilised for the intended projects will face the full force of the law.
“Those tasked with the management of the fund should ensure the money is well used for the intended purpose,” he said.
He said the Government has made it easy for the youth to get the funds, saying their registered groups will act as security for them to get the money.
“Many youth and women do not have log books or title deeds to act as security for loans they wish to take. It is because of this reason that the Government has made it easy for them to access the loans through their groups formed,” he noted.
