NAIROBI, Kenya, Feb 28 – A section of Orange Democratic Movement delegates have accused their regional leaders of removing their names from the list of those accredited to participate during the party’s 3rd National Delegates Convention.

Some delegate argued that their names were replaced by those favouring various candidates.

Rose Kivoi a delegate from Mwatate, Taita Taveta County was one of them.

Kivoi told Capital FM News: “My name was there all along but it is not there today. I have always been a faithful ODM supporter, but see what they have done to me.”

Kivoi had to camp outside the stadium as her colleagues were allowed to access the venue, the Kasarani Gymnasium.

Peter Gichohi from Meru County was also missing in the list which he says could be a plan to rig out some candidates.

“Missing in the list was worrying. Some of us are not here, but this is a club, and normally has owners,” he said.

Security was however beefed at the Stadium as delegates continued to stream in for the party’s National Delegates Convention.

Only registered delegates were being allowed to access the Kasarani Gymnasium where the event was being held.

Due to the security checks, long lines formed as the party officials ascertained those delegates who were registered.

Others said they were optimistic the elections will be free and fair.

“Today there is much order compared to last time, security is tight and we believe elections will also be good,” Bernard Lindolo from Kakamega County said.

Esther Nyokabi from Nakuru County said; “Despite staying for long queuing, I am optimistic today’s election will be free and fair.”
During the event, about 3,200 delegates will deliberate various matters of importance and thereafter take part in the election exercise of new national office bearers.
