KISUMU, Kenya, Feb 16 – Budalang’i MP Ababu Namwamba over the weekend declared he has the capacity to run the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party as the Secretary General.

Namwamba who is contesting against three other contenders told party delegates in Kisumu that his experience in politics gives him the requisite qualities that are needed to run the party that enjoys massive support across the country.

Addressing party delegates from Kisumu and Siaya counties, Namwamba urged his competitors Elizabeth Ongoro and Agnes Zani to be contended with the nominations the party had offered them.

“If you look at my sisters they are both nominated Senators, why can’t they be happy with what the party has given them. I ask our delegates to look for the best people in the party leadership. Let’s protect our party,” said Namwamba.

Namwamba also refuted claims that he was used by the governing Jubilee side to sabotage the ODM party.

He said there is a wider scheme to keep off those loyal to party leader Raila Odinga to expose the former premier to his adversaries.

Namwamba said those who are speculating rumours about him should desist and focus on issues of developing the party.

“I am not a Jubilee mole. Those who associate me with Jubilee should stop completely,” Namwamba said.

The ODM polls are slated for February 28 to March 1.
