NAIROBI, Kenya, Feb 19 – Makueni Member of Parliament (MP) Daniel Maanzo and his wife were early on Wednesday morning attacked and injured by armed robbers at their home in Hardy Estate, Karen.

Langata police chief Titus Yoma told Capital FM News that Maanzo and his wife sustained head injuries in the attack and were rushed to the Nairobi Hospital immediately following the ordeal.

“Their driver took them there and we received the report of the robbery when they were already in the hospital,” he said.

Their maid was also home but was not injured when between four and five men invaded their home between the hours of 2 and 3am.

“They scaled the perimeter wall to access the house then they took out one of the window panes,” Yoma explained.

The robbers then used crude weapons to subdue Maanzo and his wife before proceeding to strip them of their cash and valuables.

“They took three mobile phones, a laptop and Sh10,000,” Yoma told Capital FM News.

Area police have commenced investigations into the incident but are yet to establish if it was an inside job and if Maanzo was specifically targeted.

“Those are the things we’re looking into now,” the Langata police chief said.

They are also investigating what role, if any, the security detail attached to him as an elected official played.
