Kalonzo ‘stings’ MP for ‘unsolicited advice’

NAIROBI Kenya, Feb 9 – Former Vice President Kalonzo Musyoka says his Wiper Democratic Movement is planning to go to court to challenge their exclusion from the Political Parties Fund.

Wiper missed out on the around Sh200 million fund as it did not get the minimum five percent of all the votes cast in last year’s General Election.

Musyoka however said Wiper was to get a cut of the cash to be received by their CORD partner, the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM). He was responding to a taunt by Kieni MP Kanini Kega who urged Wiper to abandon CORD and team up with the Jubilee government.

The Kieni Member of Parliament alleged that ODM would not consider the other small parties in the CORD coalition.
“The whites say, ‘sometimes it’s better the devil that you know, than the angel you don’t know,’ we have been with you…why is it that only ODM was given the money? we in TNA have shared the money among all parties-food for thought,” he said.

“It is better being number two or even three inside the Government than to be number two outside the government,” the first-time MP said at a funeral ceremony in Machakos county which was also attended by Musyoka and other Wiper leaders.

A charged Musyoka chastised the Kieni legislator for meddling in affairs that did not involve him and passing unsolicited advice without any knowledge on the working mechanisms within the Cord family.

“President Kibaki had even endorsed me…what happened? it was killed in the ‘Kitchen’ cabinet of TNA,” he claimed. “I am just responding to Kanini for playing with the bee.”

“Cord does not need anybody’s advice on how to share the political party’s fund,” he stressed.

Again for playing with the bee, Kega had to bear more ‘bee stings’; “next time you come to give advice, ask them to leave alone our daughter Kethi Kilonzo.”

Musyoka argues that the Wiper Democratic Movement was excluded under the guise that they attained 4.8 percent of the total votes cast in the 2013 polls, yet his party had garnered over five percent which places it among the recipients.
