Westgate attackers said they were ‘Al Shabaab’

The four that the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) has held accountable for the deaths are Mohamed Ahmed Abdi, Liban Abdullah Omar, Adan Mohamed and Hussein Hassan Mustafah.

They face charges for supporting a terrorist group, harbouring persons committing terrorist acts, obtaining registration by false pretences, being unlawfully present in Kenya and by extension being part of those responsible for the events of September 21.

Their defence counsel has however made the point that none of the four witnesses the DPP has called so far have been able to establish a link between their clients and the act of terror.

The prosecution however intends to call two more witnesses on Friday to shed light onto the events of that Saturday and is even planning a visit to the mall itself to better familiarise the court with the crime scene.
