And to show how much he supported Ruto, Sang went as far as attacking Radio Citizen’s Waweru Mburu who is alleged to have asked Ruto to come clean on any corruption scams before seeking any elective post at the time.

“That’s when I heard Joshua Sang saying that if there were thieves, it was the Kikuyu so why doesn’t Waweru Mburu advise the Kikuyu to clear their names first before attacking William Ruto,” narrated the witness.
He also told the court that he used to tune in to the ‘Le ne Emet’ show about three times a week and he often heard him using coded words to refer to the Kikuyu.
The witness explained that Sang and all other broadcasters had been warned not to make hateful comments or to incite the public and that he used these words to avoid getting into trouble with the government.
Listeners who called into the show to express their support for the Party of National Unity (PNU) had it rough.
“What would he say about callers calling in to support the PNU?” asked prosecution lawyer Lucio Garcia.
“He would even ask callers if PNU was their mother,” responded the witness.
Some of the words used to describe the Kikuyu community were translated to mean ‘tainted teeth’, ‘weeds’ and ‘something sharp’.
The witness also revealed that at times Sang would invite PNU politicians to his show just because they had paid to be on the show to sell their policies.
But as soon as they left, he would discredit them and urge listeners not to buy into those ideologies.
“I remember him saying that KASS FM was like a cow and ‘we were inviting them so that we could milk them’,” said the witness.
“Can you explain what you understood by that analogy?” asked Garcia.
“That KASS FM was in business and that they were paying to air their views,” he clarified.
Sang is also accused of using his show to spread fear among the listeners and spread propaganda that the Kalenjin would lose Eldoret town to foreigners.
The witness explained that Eldoret town was a mixture of different tribes but that Sang spread fear that if Kalenjins did not uproot the ‘weeds’ among them then they would lose the area to outsiders.
