Keter summoned by MPs over railway saga

PAC is responsible for the examining accounts showing the appropriations voted by the House for public expenditure.

Before the House went on recess in December last year, Speaker of National Assembly Justin Muturi made a ruling detailing the mandates of PAC, PIC and Departmental committees after an apparent mix up over dealing with State agencies.

Muturi ruled that PIC (which is responsible for examining public investments, the Auditor General’s reports on investments, and whether those investments are managed soundly and prudently) has the mandate to probe the controversial standard gauge railway tender.

PIC Vice-Chairman Kimani Ichung’wah confirmed that they had summoned Keter, Transport Secretary Michael Kamau, his Principal Secretary and former Kenya Railways Corporation Managing Director Muli as well as former Ministers Robinson Githae, Ali Mwakwere and Amos Kimunya to appear before it when they begin hearing the matter next Wednesday.
