ELDORET, Kenya, Dec 16 – The Jubilee Coalition will not be distracted from its commitment to serving Kenyans, President Uhuru Kenyatta has said.
The President emphasised that the coalition pledged to improve the lives of all Kenyans and will ensure that goal is achieved.
“We promised to serve all Kenyans without discrimination and we have to take that responsibility seriously,” the President said.
President Kenyatta was speaking Monday when he addressed a leaders’ meeting at Eldoret State Lodge at the start of his two-day visit in the North Rift.
He urged the leaders to shun those engaging in empty talk and concentrate on fulfilling the promises they made to the people of Kenya.
The President urged the leaders to unite and ensure the Jubilee Coalition is strengthened at all levels.
On peace, the Head of state called on all Kenyans to live harmoniously and resolve differences amicably.
“It is our responsibility to ensure we live peacefully. Let us not expect that people from other countries will come to help us resolve our differences. That is why for the last three years we have been going around preaching peace in different parts of the country,” the President said.
To bolster security in areas that have recently experienced insecurity, President Kenyatta said village elders must be involved fully in peace and security initiatives.
He said elders must also be incorporated in the Nyumba Kumi initiative to ensure its effectiveness.
Speaking during the meeting, Deputy President William Ruto thanked the elders, who attended the meeting, for their blessings that contributed to the Jubilee’s victory in the last General Election.
The Deputy President also appreciated the leaders’ support to the Jubilee Government’s development agenda, saying they should remain steadfast in their commitment to development.
The leaders assured the President and the Deputy President that they will not waver in their support to the Jubilee Government.
They said when the people of Kenya elected President Kenyatta and Deputy President Ruto, they were sending a strong signal to the world that Kenya is a sovereign state which does not condone external interference.
They added that the decision Kenyans made to put the Jubilee Government in office should be respected by all.
