NAIROBI, Kenya, Dec 19 – It was a tight race in Bomachoge Borabu constituency of Kisii County as Joel Onyancha and Peter Kimori battled to come out on top as the provisional results of the by-election streamed in.
Peter Kimori of the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) took an early lead before being toppled by The National Alliance (TNA) candidate Joel Onyancha, reclaiming it and losing out again.
As at 9.17pm Onyancha had garnered 9,451 votes while Onyancha, who is defending the seat, had 8,655 votes from 71 of the 80 polling stations.
Albert Nyaundi of Ford-People held the third slot with 2,668 votes while Josiah Maaga of the United Democratic Forum Party (UDFP), Christopher Siambe of the Kenya National Congress (KNC), Samson Mbeche of the Progressive Party of Kenya and Nickson Mosingi of NARC-K brought up the rear with 453, 148, 117 and 47 votes.
