NAIROBI Kenya, Dec 31- Masila Timothy Ian Kindiu of Newlight Academy, Komarock in Nairobi County who was ranked in top ten nationally in the 2013 Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) examinations says his dream to become an engineer has been accomplished.

The 13 year-old who scored 440 marks told Capital FM News that although he never imagined he will achieve such high points, he was certain he will pass.

The first born in a family of three attributed his success to hard work, prayers and support from his parents.

“I still cannot believe I have achieved this much but I thank God for this,” a joyous kindiu told Capital FM News.

Kindiu understands very well that for him to take his dream to another level, he needs to double his efforts.

“I know I am not done yet, this is just the beginning,” he said.

To him, Tuesday was just a normal day, although he knew examination results were set to be released.

He said he was somewhat nervous, unaware it would later turn out to be the best day in his life.

“I was anxious for I knew these results will determine which course I will take in my life but I am happy that I was not disappointed,” he said, adding he hopes to join Alliance Boys High School.

“My teachers were always there for me…they saw me through as well as my parents,” he stated.

When Capital FM News crew visited the school, teachers, parents and his colleagues were in a celebratory mood.

His father Cleopas Masila Kindiu joined the impromptu choir that formed immediately after his son’s arrival at his former school where he was carried shoulder high.

Though falling short with 60 marks to clear the 500 marks, Kindiu had kind words for those who were disappointed with the examination results outcome.

“All I can tell them is that they can make it…it is not the end of the road. All they need to do is to make up their minds that they want to succeed,” he said.

In this year’s KCPE examination results, Kimutai Brian of Stewards Light School in Nandi County and Otieno Akoth Daphne of Golden Elite Junior School in Kisumu County emerged top with 444 marks out of 500 marks.
