NAIROBI, Kenya, Nov 19 – The Retail Electricity Tariff is set to reduce to Sh15.51 in December from the current Sh15.59, the Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC) announced on Tuesday.

Acting ERC Director General Frederick Nyang attributes the decline to the increased use of renewable sources of energy such as geothermal energy as opposed to oil.

The tariff is set to go even lower come July 2014 when the ERC says it will drop to Sh13.44 and Sh12.26 come 2015.
