NAIROBI, Kenya, Nov 7 – Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua’s launch of a 4000-acre new city project will go on Friday after the High Court rejected Senator Johnson Muthama’s plea to block it.

High Court judge Weldon Korir ruled that Muthama had gone to court at the 11th hour when he knew the launch is set for November 8.

The judge said it was impossible to hear Muthama’s application and make a decision and ruled that he will suffer no prejudice if the project is launched tomorrow.

The court has now directed Muthama to serve Mutua and all the parties for the matter to be heard next Tuesday.

Interestingly, both Muthama and Mutua belong to the Coalition for Reforms and Democracy.

President Uhuru Kenyatta is set to launch the project is located just outside Machakos town that will be used for construction of a media city, industrial centres as well as residential estates.

On Tuesday, the Agriculture Ministry accused Mutua of taking over their 2,000 acres, a claim which the governor denied saying the ministry’s land is not part of the county project.
