Westgate hero Haji now helping victims find closure

In the photos, Haji was seen ducking and taking cover behind walls and pillars trying to save people.

His parents were in distress especially his mother who could not imagine the big danger her son was facing.

“My mum was at the edge of her nerves. She would not stop crying. The whole family had to go and comfort her. After she knew I was safe, she was happy that I and my brother were safe. After that people are now talking about it, my parents are now very proud,” he said.

Haji appreciates the prayers of his family, friends and even strangers who saw him and many others come out alive.

He recalls; “after meeting my father for the first time after Westgate, he didn’t say anything, but he hugged me and said he was glad that we are ok. My brother is glad he is ok too, and he is glad that I am ok and he is trying to get back to his life. ”

During the attack about a week ago, about 1,000 people were saved while scores of others were injured with some still being on treatment in various hospitals.
