Speaker lifts veil on media access to Parliament

The number of committees was increased from 14 to 28 and their membership had been further enhanced to 29 from 11 legislators per committee.

The centre was constructed with the help of the US government in 2009 at a cost of Sh2.5 million mainly to help journalists cover proceedings.

MPs have been finding it difficult for their press conferences to be covered after journalists boycotted in protest with some legislators finding themselves having to address the media at the Parliament’s public parking area because orderlies would deny journalists access citing ‘there is nothing as a media centre.’
