NAIROBI, Kenya, Sep 16 – A Nigerian who sneaked back to Kenya after he and several others were deported for drug trafficking, has been charged in a Nairobi court with drug trafficking.

Inobemhe Emanuel Peter who was arrested over the weekend in Nairobi’s Donholm estate was said to have been deported together with controversial Nigerian businessman Antony Chinedu in June this year.

The Nigerian was arrested alongside Virginia Wakini Wangeci for allegedly possessing heroin.

They however did not plead to the charges after the prosecution asked to be allowed to amend the charges on Tuesday.

Police alleged that the duo had packed the drugs in 425 sachets with a market value of Sh85,000.

The foreigner was also charged with being in the country illegally.

He is alleged to have entered Kenya through Namanga, on the Kenya-Tanzania border without a valid permit.

A customs official has already been charged with the offence of aiding the deportee’s illegal entry into the country.
