This is after getting information that the violence could have been fuelled by some foreigners.
Interior and National Coordination Cabinet Secretary Joseph ole Lenku says they have increased the number of security personnel to work with the area leadership in maintaining security.
“We have received good indication from the County government that they are playing their role too to ensure we maintain security in the region,” he said.
Lenku also asked the county authorities to run an all inclusive government to avoid a situation where some people feel sidelined.
“The county government has a responsibility to have an all inclusive government because the moment some people feel sidelined as indications are pointing towards that; then you will make the county ungovernable,” he pointed out.
“We want to challenge the leadership of the county to ensure every person feel included in the activities of their county.”
He also issued a warning to individuals who may be found trying to disrupt law and order.
“Anybody trying to disrupt law and order will meet the full force of the law,” he warned.
The government has also initiated fresh reconciliation talks among the warring communities in Moyale, Marsabit County in an effort to find a lasting solution following clashes.
The talks have been spearheaded by community leaders, incorporated state representatives including the Marsabit County Commissioner Isaiah Nakoru among other officers.
Lenku has also appealed to the County governments to coordinate with the National government in providing security equipments to the security bodies in the country.
He says both governments should work together in providing security to the citizens.
The Cabinet Secretary was speaking when he witnessed a signing ceremony between Mombasa County and the Inspector General of Police David Kimaiyo that will see the county provide 50 security vehicles.
He said the vehicles were set to help contain security within the County.
“County policing authority requires all sectors to play a role in maintaining security to the country,” he said.
Speaking after the signing, Mombasa County Governor Hassan Joho said he was committed to work with the government in providing quality services to the county residents.
He asked his counterparts to join hands with the government in a bid to develop the entire country.
“We understand the challenges that our security bodies face and hence our efforts to support our police in order to have the capacity to deal with any security issues in the country,” he noted.
