NAIROBI, Kenya, Aug 8 – President Uhuru Kenyatta has sent a message of goodwill to all Muslims in the country on the occasion of the national Eid-ul-fitr holiday.

In his message, President Kenyatta said the dedication of Muslims to the arduous pillar of the Islamic faith is both admirable and inspiring to all Kenyans.

The President observed that faith plays an integral role in the personal, communal and national lives by inculcating values and disciplining individuals into the vigilant observance of moral and ethical ideals.

President Kenyatta said: “Today, I join all Muslims in celebrating Eid-Ul-Fitr, marking the end of Ramadhan, the period of fasting and devotion that they observed over the past month.”

He thanked Kenyans of all faiths for the solidarity extended to the Muslim community during Ramadhan which is a portion of their journey of faith, and urged them to continue the spirit of brotherhood and understanding.

In return, the President said Kenyans will earn the fruits of harmony and unity that are critical to secure national stability and prosperity.

To emphasize the actuality of this solidarity, President Kenyatta said Eid-Ul-Fitr will continue to be marked as a national holiday.

The holiday will also give Kenyans an opportunity to reflect on the importance of faith, the diversity of the religious communities and the need for tolerance and mutual understanding in protecting the country’s national sovereignty, he said.

He urged Kenyans to mark the day in a manner that pays tribute to the sacrifice and devotion of the Muslim brothers and sisters.

The President extended best wishes to all Muslims and wished their sacrifice and devotion pleases God.
