Counties must revise budgets before release of Sh210bn

Meanwhile, Ruto proposed legislation that stipulates that recurrent budgets for county governments should not exceed 40 percent adding that can make prudent financial sense.

The Chairman of Council of Governors who is also the Bomet Governor Isaac Ruto stressed the need for greater understanding and harmonious relations between national and the county governments in implementing issues pertaining to devolution.

National Treasury Secretary Henry Rotich urged governors not to budget for functions which were not for the county and concentrate on those which are under their watch as contained in the Constitution.

The meeting also set up a three sub-committee on Economic and Planning, Budget and Legal to assist counties in budgeting.
