4 Kenyan families worry over kin still held in Somalia

“My heart goes to these other captives and I want the Al Shabaab to consider these other families because it is not easy. There is no prison in this world that is good and I know that the Al Shabaab understand this,” urged Mule.

Mule and Wainaina spent one-and-a-half years holed up in a dark room in the hands of the militia group.

His dehumanising experience is something that will stay with him for the rest of his life.

“I missed my wife, I missed my mom, my dad, my siblings and their smiles,” he explained.

Mule’s father has vowed not to quit on the other Kenyans who are still missing.

Before the return of his son, he together with the other families with missing kin had formed a praying group to give each other courage to face another day and fight for the return of their children.

This fight continues.

“We will do our level best even as civilians and we will ensure that the other Kenyans come back home. Where we are able to chip in we will do it and we will do it with all the passion because we know what we have gone through,” said Mule’s father.

My heart goes to these other captives and I want the Al Shabaab to consider these other families because it is not easy. There is no prison in this world that is good and I know that the Al Shabaab understand this, urged Mule.

Mutoro and Kangogo have been missing for 24 months and 13 days.

Administration Police officers James Kiarie and his colleague are also missing although details of their captivity are unclear.

And although these numbers might seem like data and statistics to make a story, they are human beings whose freedom must be fought for.

They should not be forgotten.
