The Head of State was accompanied on the trip by Foreign Affairs Cabinet Secretary Ambassador Amina Mohammed and her Health counterpart James Macharia among others.
During the official visit, President Kenyatta will also hold bilateral talks with his host President Goodluck Jonathan.
The Head of State will also open the Kenyan Chancery and the residence of the High Commissioner in Abuja, according to a statement from the Presidential Strategic Communication Unit (PSCU).
During a meeting with Editors at State House on Friday, the Head of State denied reports of frosty relations with Nigeria following the deportation of notorious drug traffickers including Antony Chinedu.
“We have no problem at all with Nigerians,” the president said “in any case they are very good people and we encourage them to come here and invest.”
He reiterated his earlier position that any foreigner found engaging in drug trafficking will be deported. “And that is a position we have taken, it is a matter we are very firm on and must be implemented. We will have to send them back to their country.”
The Head of State spoke even as police launched a man hunt for a suspected drug trafficker who sneaked back barely a month after he was deported alongside his notorious accomplice Chinedu.
Police believe Eneke Chimenze alias Anaeke Chimezie sneaked back through the Namanga border from Tanzania.
An immigration official accused of allowing the suspected drug trafficker back to Kenya is expected in court on Monday.
