Owalo says he cannot record a statement with the CID because he has not been told what crime he has committed/CFM

Raila’s aide Owalo won’t pen CID statement yet

CORD Members of Parliaments who accompanied Owalo to the CID headquarters – including Eseli Simiyu of Tongaren said the opposition will continue playing its role of checking the Executive.

“It is a waste of taxpayer’s money by using the police service to play their political game. They want to keep us busy chasing on useless things instead of keeping them in check,” Simiyu said.

He observed that, “they are in fear that Raila may declare that he wants to vie for the presidency position in 2017. They want to paint him black starting with Owalo.”

“It is fear of Raila which is making them do this. Kenya is a democratic country and anyone can vie for any position he feels like.”

Police are investigating allegations that Owalo has been enlisting university students and other groups to embark on massive demonstrations aimed at destabilizing President Uhuru Kenyatta’s government.

He has also been accused of organizing diplomats, foreign embassies, clergy and the civil society to rise up and oppose the government by causing disaffection.

On his Facebook page earlier after the initial summons, Owalo stated: “This is cheap propaganda being peddled by the Jubilee Government through the security and intelligence apparatus and their agents to divert the attention of Kenyans from the myriad challenges it is facing, including but not limited to the on-going teachers’ strike and complicity of Jubilee and the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) in the Makueni by-election nomination fiasco.”

He said he decided to inform the public because he was unsure of the motive the CID has in summoning him to its headquarters.

The Jackal News website had alleged that Owalo together with several others were working to destabilize President Uhuru Kenyatta’s government.

“The report indicates that Owalo is actively involved in the recruitment of students from Kenyatta, Nairobi and Maseno universities to hold a massive demonstration against the government,” the website stated.
