Drama at Nairobi hotel as couple ‘stuck’

MAN-IN-BEDNAIROBI, Kenya, Jul 26 – Business on Ronald Ngala Street in Nairobi came to a standstill for a better part of Friday morning, following reports that a couple was ‘stuck’ to each at lodging in the area.

A huge crowd milled in front of the Gloria Hotel whose doors remained locked for hours trying to catch a glimpse of the drama.

Some of those who spoke to Capital FM News had varied accounts of the saga but the couple was ‘missing’ when police eventually gained entry into the hotel.

“Even if a doctor were to come here, separating them would be difficult,” stated one observer.

“There is a man that we work with so he came here and saw them when I also went to look, they locked the place up. These people are still inside there,” stated a waitress working in an adjacent hotel.

“Having a side kick sometimes is okay but other times it can land you into a lot of problems,” she said.

“This is someone’s wife. If you look at her, she has a ring on her finger and even the man if you look at him, he is not that old.”

A woman who alleged that she knew the wife of the man involved in the illicit affair also made an appearance and contended that she could ‘separate’ them.

“Why should they die instead of repenting of their sins? They are not the first people to commit immorality. They will come apart and no other power can stop that from happening except God’s. I was going to the market and I decided to offer my services so that they can be taken apart,” she claimed.

The doors of the hotel were opened shortly after Nairobi Central Police Chief Patrick Oduma appeared at the scene and announced no couple was found in a compromising situation.

“This is someone who is mad. As a result, he started to throw out towels, blankets and other furniture and I think this is what people saw and started the rumour mills. He has however been taken to Mathare hospital. So you can all leave now,” he told the huge crowd which blocked the entire street.

The owner of the hotel stated that a man who was booked into one of the rooms started throwing towels and blankets out of the window and may have elicited the ‘rumours.’

“The person who was here hails from our rural home. He came and rented a room and even left his phone and other details. So he went insane at night and as a result started throwing towels and blankets outside. The report was brought to us and that is when we took him to Mathare Hospital,” he stated.
