Police said the thugs were killed after a dramatic chase in Warren area within Kasarani as they were riding in three vehicles when they were intercepted at about 8 pm.
“Our officers had been trailing them, we had information they were going to commit robberies in that area of Kasarani,” said Nairobi County Police Commander Benson Kibui.
Kibui told Capital FM News that they have recovered five pistols, a DVD and three mobile phones.
“We also recovered a Cooperative Bank ATM card bearing the names Caroline Atieno which is believed to have been stolen,” he said, and appealed to the owner or anyone who knows her to volunteer the information to facilitate their investigations.
A police officer involved in the security operation said the thugs were trailed from Dandora where they had spent the better part of the day planning the robbery.
“We will not sit back and watch as criminals terrorize the city, we have intensified security in town and we urge the public to volunteer information to enable us succeed,” Kibui said.
