NAIROBI, Kenya, May 10 – Murang’a Senator Kembi Gitura has dared a 31 year-old lawyer to prove that the Senator is his biological father.

Gitura has filed an objection to Roy Kiarie’s constitutional application seeking orders to compel the senator to accept him as his son.

In his grounds of opposition, Gitura is arguing that there is no basis for the court to grant the orders sought by the alleged son.

The Deputy Speaker of the Senate states that the lawyer’s application does not disclose a reasonable cause of action.

Gitura says the petition is in contravention of his family rights under Article 31 (c) and 33 (3) of the constitution.

Kiarie wants the court to direct the Senator undergo a DNA test to determine if Kenya’s former ambassador to Belgium is his biological father.

Gitura however says that Kiarie is an adult and should take charge and responsibility of his life.

Kiarie alleges that the Senator had a relationship with his mother Rachel Njeri Kiarie resulting in his birth.

He claims he grew up under the custody of his mother and his dignity has been lowered for being labelled a bastard.

He accuses the senator of refusing to formally acknowledge him as his child despite writing to him last November through his advocate.
