Government Pathologist at the Coast General Hospital Ng’ali Mbuuko who performed the post mortem said Wesonga suffered from Ventricular Septal Defect (VSD).
According to the pathologist, Wesonga – who was found dead in his house on Sunday – had a hole in the heart leading to pulmonary hypertension which caused his heart to collapse.
Mbuuko said Wesonga was likely born with the condition which was not diagnosed earlier.
Mombasa divisional police boss Kipkemoi Rop told Capital FM News that they had received the medical report but had taken more samples for further investigations at the Mombasa government chemist.
The police on Monday said they were also perusing Wesonga’s mobile phone for possible clues.
Wesonga was said to have had drinks with friends in various pubs in Mombasa town before he went home on Saturday night.
His roommate found him dead after gaining access to his house after noticing he had slept longer than usual.
On Tuesday, the Media Council of Kenya (MCK) and the Kenya Correspondents Association asked the police to speed up investigations into the death of the journalist.
The journalist, 27, was found on Sunday morning in his house with blood oozing from his nose and mouth.
Questions have been raised over the sudden death of the 27 year old journalist.
