NAIROBI, Kenya, Apr 14 -The government has recalled 52 ambassadors and high commissioners in all Kenyan foreign embassies.
The envoys are expected back in the country within the next one week, according to the head of the Public Service Francis Kimemia.
Kimemia said the directive follows reforms and redefinition of Kenya’s foreign policy mandate by the new government.
“The chargé d’affaires, deputy ambassadors and deputy high commissioners will look after the affairs of the foreign stations until further notice,” said Mr Kimemia.
He said Kenyans will be updated in due course.
The decision came as President Uhuru Kenyatta and his deputy William Ruto were set to name a new Cabinet on Wednesday.
