Matiang’i is leaving his current position as the Eastern Africa regional Representative for the Centre for International Development, Rockefeller College of Public Affairs and Policy, the State University of New York/PPS
He is a governance and programme implementation expert and the immediate former Country Director of the Kenya Parliamentary Support Programme.
Matiang’i is leaving his current position as the Eastern Africa regional Representative for the Centre for International Development, Rockefeller College of Public Affairs and Policy, the State University of New York.
Born in Borabu, Matiang’i has lectured at the Egerton University and the University of Nairobi.
He has held various research and programme implementation positions with various local and international organisations.
Matiang’i has consulted previously for among others the World Bank, the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association, the Inter-Parliamentary Union and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).
He is married and has two children.
After he was unveiled, Matiang’i said that he will use the opportunity accorded to him in conjunction with other secretaries to attain goals set on ICT by the Jubilee manifesto.
“There is a lot to be done and we hope together we will implement the Jubilee manifesto on ICT and move the country and the sector to the next level,” he said after he was introduced at State House.
The ICT docket was formerly headed by Minister Samuel Poghisio in the last term of retired President Mwai Kibaki’s government.
