NAIROBI, Kenya, Mar 9 – Uhuru Kenyatta’s Deputy President-elect William Ruto in his victory speech recalled 12 years ago when he met the 4th president of Kenya.

He told the jubilant crowd gathered at the Jubilee Media Centre in Karen that when he met him and exchanged telephone numbers, he instantly knew he would make a future president.

“I met Kenyatta 12 years ago and I saved his number as FP, meaning Future President, today I am going to change that and remove F,” he recalled.

Ruto who delivered almost 100 percent of the Rift Valley vote on the United Republic Party, said their win was a miracle since they had many challenges on their way to presidency.

“I am lost for words, from where I stand today, I don’t know what to say. God did it for us. He turned every roadblock into a stepping stone and turned every challenge into an opportunity. Our victory today is a miracle… it doesn’t matter how you look at it,” the former Eldoret North MP said.

Just like the president-elect pledged, Ruto promised that the Jubilee Coalition will uphold its promises to Kenyans under their leadership.

He also said they will work with all Kenyans and invited those who competed against them to join hands in the development of the country.

When he took the podium, Ruto struggled to gather his starting words as he thanked the supporters and the candidates who won in the competitive election.

After the victory speeches, the two leaders addressed the crowd of supporters who were camping at the Jubilee Media Centre since Saturday morning.
