Head of the Civil Service Francis Kimemia said the government is finalising plans to invite several other leaders.
Kimemia added that the government was doing everything possible to ensure the election is conducted peacefully.
“You can be sure that we will invite the American President. If he cannot come then he can delegate,” he stated.
He further pointed out that key representatives from the European Union have also been invited to the occasion.
“If you go to the European Union we have the various countries. If you go to the continent of Africa, we have key representatives since we cannot invite everybody to come and witness this historic occasion,” he stated.
He indicated that the international community was very interested in what was happening in the country.
“Kenya is a very interesting cake to the international community. It is only that we ourselves are not proud about our country and we tend to cover the good things that happen here,” he said.
“You can be sure that we will invite the American President. If he cannot come then he can delegate,” he stated.
“We tend to sweep ourselves under the carpet and just lift the dust instead of the goodness of the people of this country so we will invite as many leaders as we can.”
The inauguration ceremony is expected to take place three weeks after Kenyans go to the polls.
In case there is a petition but it is dismissed, the swearing in will take place on April 16.
The swearing in of the new president will take place on April 30 in case there is a run-off, and June 18 if there is a repeat of the election.
