NAIROBI, Kenya, Mar 24 – Vice President Kalonzo Musyoka has described this coming week as a crucial one for the country as it gears up for devolved system of government.

Musyoka said with the elections of speakers and swearing-in of other office bearers at the county level including governors and county representatives, it is time Kenyans comes to terms with real change in governance under the new structures of devolution.

“This is a week of great reflection as reality of devolution is seen ushering in change in the country’s system of governance,” he noted.

The Vice President made the remarks at the Nairobi Baptist Church, Ngong Road, Nairobi after joining other worshipers for Palm Sunday Service.

The sermon was delivered by Pastor, Erastus Weru of the Church’s outreach Ministries assisted by Pastor Majid Ochieng.

Musyoka asked Kenyans to pray for the nation as various political parties engage in serious consultations over various elective positions both at the national level and at the counties.

The Vice President was accompanied by David Musila (Senator-elect for Kitui), Prof Kivutha Kibwana (Makueni Governor-elect), Nyiva Mwendwa (Kitui Women Representative) and the Makueni MP-elect, Daniel Maanzo among other wiper Democratic Party Politicians.

He also used the opportunity to send good will Easter message to all Kenyans with a call for peace.

Musila called for prayers as Kenyans anxiously wait for the ruling of the presidential election petition by the Supreme Court.

Prof Kivutha said Kenyans have invested heavily in peace building after the 2007 elections and commended the nation for the continued calm and peace after the just concluded general elections.
