The commission through its communications department says 301 pallets of the ballot material arrived on Sunday night and have been kept under armed guard just like those for the presidential poll which arrived last Friday.
“The second batch of 301 pallets for the gubernatorial and senatorial ballot papers arrived on Sunday February 17, 2013,” read the statement from IEBC on Monday.
Last Friday, the commission received 398 pallets for the presidential ballot papers.
The commission expects to receive a remainder of the ballot papers in the course of the week.
The IEBC hired six cargo planes to deliver the ballot papers to ensure that they are delivered in good time before the election.
There are 14 million registered voters participating in this year’s general election.
The commission is set to hold voter simulation this Sunday in all the 1,450 County Assembly Wards in the country at selected polling stations.
The mock poll initially planned for Monday was moved in what the commission said was a decision reached at to avoid disruption of learning.
Kenyans will for the first time vote for six elective positions under the new constitution.
They include the presidential vote, gubernatorial, senatorial, parliamentary, county women representatives, and county assembly.
