MBEERE SOUTH, Kenya, Feb 15 – Prime Minister Raila Odinga and his running mate Kalonzo Musyoka intensified their campaigns for the second day running in Embu County wooing the residents to vote for the Coalition for Reforms and Democracy (CORD) during the March 4 election.

Odinga who is the CORD flag bearer was in Limuru, Kiambu County before flying to Runyenjes in Embu County while Musyoka made a whirlwind rallies in Marimanti, Ishiara, Umau stadium in Kiritiri, Mbeere South district and Gategi in Mwea, Embu County.

Thereafter the two luminaries accompanied by local CORD affiliate candidates and the entire campaign team converged for a major rally at the Embu stadium.

In his campaign the vice president made a passionate appeal for wananchi in the area to vote for CORD promising true change that would transform the country’s social- economic status.

Musyoka who was accompanied by former Mutomo legislator, Isaac Muoki said under a CORD government, the country will realise full implementation of the constitution that guarantees the rights of every Kenyan including the minority communities.

The VP at the same time added that CORD would ensure equity in the distribution of national resources through equalisation fund under devolved system of government.

Speaking in Marimanti in Tharaka Nithi County, Musyoka said the next government under CORD will open up arid and semi areas of the country through improvement of infrastructure particularly road network and water supply.

The vice president said with the high grand fall dam project in the area will have adequate water supply for both domestic use and for irrigation.

He added that the CORD government will upgrade the Mwingi-Isiolo road to link the area to the rest of the country and the East African region.

He called on residents of Marimanti and other arid zones to support CORD and be counted in the country’s transformation for the better.

“I urge you to be with us and turn up in large numbers and vote for CORD, the coalition is made up of a strong experienced team that is ready and committed to steer this great country to the next level of development,” said Musyoka.

The VP assured that the CORD government will provide monthly upkeep allowances for the elderly besides giving grants to the youth to initiate income generating projects.

“The CORD government will ensure that every County in the country has a polytechnic to impart the necessary skills to the youth to empower them utilise grants that would be provided for them to start small enterprises.
