EMBU, Kenya, Feb 18 – Fourteen youths were charged in an Embu court on Monday with attempting to disrupt a political rally addressed by CORD presidential candidate Raila Odinga.

The youths who appeared before Embu Senior Principal Magistrate Paul Biwott were accused of throwing stones and heckling.

The 14 however denied the charges and were freed on cash bails of Sh100,000 or alternatively,, post surety bonds of Sh200,000.

Two of the accused who are said to be minors will undergo tests to determine their age.

The prosecution claims they interfered with the free will of the rally organisers last Friday by heckling and throwing stones.

Their lawyer urged the court to supply the defence with witness statements and any documents the prosecution will use in the case.

The court has listed the case for hearing on February 21.
