RIP Clarita; you fought a good fight

NAIROBI, Kenya, Dec 6 – Hope is what George Ojwang has held on for the last ten months while his wife Clarita lay bedridden from Nairobi, to Agha Khan and finally to Kenyatta National Hospital.

Numerous trips to and from hospital have been the order of the day for George who has had to fix them in his daily schedule, just to check on his wife.

He had become father and mother, everything to their two boys Haroun and Henry.

Thursday afternoon however is a day that brought George’s world crumbling down after Clarita passed away, just when there was much hope.

“Babie,” was the post that George had on his Facebook page immediately the sad reality came crushing his world.

Social media immediately was abuzz with tributes to Clarita whom many knew through the coverage she had received.

“R.I.P Clarita….George, may God walk with you and hold your hand throughout this painful path….may He be your true comforter in the midst of sorrow”

“It’s way below the belt. Shock, disappointment, sorrow, tears, anger but I know God is in control. REST IN PEACE CLARISE.” wrote Njeeri Thuo.

“This is sooooo sad… may her soul rest in eternal peace. May God stand in the gap she has left and comfort George, the kids and family at large,” Josephine Thuo shared he shock.

Nelly Njeri wrote: “This is heart breaking! We may not comprehend but we all have to accept God’s will. God in his infinite wisdom knows the plans he has for each of us and the days he has set aside for us.”

“It is well, it is well. It just made me realise we were fighting God from one end of the rope and He is pulling on the other. God loved you more Claris, it is well.,” Condoled Felix Kimathi on a Facebook page established to pray for Clarita.

“R.I.P Clarita….George, may God walk with you and hold your hand throughout this painful path….may He be your true comforter in the midst of sorrow,” wrote Nancy Wangeci.

George had many stories, to tell her, stories he posted on Clarita’s Facebook wall the last being on Tuesday where part of his post read: “One day, I will tell you how I felt today, this day that I stayed in traffic for two hours in between integrity center and KNH. One day, I will tell you how I watched a physiotherapist sanction your chest, painfully pressing your tender chest at KNH.”
