HAMISI, Kenya, Dec 10 – Prime Minister Raila Odinga has challenged leaders affiliated to the Jubilee alliance to declare their commitment to correct the historical injustices Kenyans suffered during the post independence era.

He asked the proponents of the alliance to prove to Kenyans that they were ready to pay the price of undoing the wrongs the post-colonial regimes perpetuated over the years, irrespective of the consequences.

“I challenge them to declare their determination to facilitate the surrender of public properties that were stolen since independence to prove their commitment to Kenyans,” the premier asserted.

He said the Jubilee marked a critical chapter in the Biblical calendar because it was a time when the nation broke away from the dark past to make a fresh start.

Odinga said the Jubilee signified the year when slaves were released and stolen properties reverted back to the rightful owners insisting that those who coined the name must practice the Biblical interpretation.

He told a rally in Hamisi town where he concluded his two day campaigns in the Western region that the Coalition for Reforms and Democracy brought together leaders whose ideals were based on the desire to make the Kenyan dream a reality.

The premier said the CORD alliance was determined to transform the economic landscape of the country by making job creation a priority to ensure that the input of the most productive members of the society was utilised.

The premier who was accompanied by leaders affiliated to the CORD alliance posed the challenge after addressing a series of rallies in Luanda, Majengo, Vihiga and Chavakali trading centres of Vihiga County.

The joint campaigns come after the Orange party last week ratified a pre election pact with the Wiper Democratic Movement, the Ford Kenya and 14 other parties to form the Coalition for Reforms and Democracy (CORD).

Last Friday, the Orange Democratic Movement certified Odinga’s bid for State House on the party ticket as campaign for the coming general polls intensified.

Vice President Kalonzo Musyoka’s Wiper party is expected to hold a delegate’s conference on Monday to endorse the political merger.

Members of Parliament in the entourage included Johnson Muthama, Wavinya Ndeti, James Orengo, Otieno Kajwang’, Philip Kaloki, Wilber Otichilo, Wycliffe Oparanya, Alfred Khang’ati, and Sospeter Ojaamong.

Others were former MPs Mutua Katuku, Kalembe Ndile and Maoka Maore.
