Party chairman Johnson Sakaja told Capital FM News that Juja MP William Kabogo, former Rockefeller Foundation boss James Nyoro and one-time Limuru MP George Nyanja are to appear before the party’s disciplinary committee on Thursday afternoon.
Sakaja said: “We have summoned them tomorrow at 2pm and they will be required to show cause why disciplinary action should not be taken against them.”
The aspirants are required to bring evidence in their support or to counter that presented by their opponents.
Chaos rocked a TNA County Forum after supporters of aspirants for the governor’s seat failed to agree on a method of nominating grassroots leaders for the party’s county committee.
Chairs were hurled across the hall and several people sustained minor injuries as they tried to scramble for safety.
Trouble began after Nyanja accused Kabogo of plotting to disrupt the function by ferrying hooligans to attend the meeting and declaring that Nyanja had ‘unfinished business’ with him.
Last week, TNA condemned the violence that ensued and cautioned its aspirants against such acts that it said went against the party’s code of conduct.
The party’s director of communications Machel Waikenda then warned that the party would not hesitate to take disciplinary action against aspirants engaging in any form of violence and intimidation.
TNA is expected to conduct its party nominations on January 7 and aspirants are supposed to submit applications by December 11.
Waikenda on Wednesday said that the party had been busy strengthening structures at the grassroots level and was happy especially following the desire by many Kenyans to join its leadership.
He said that leaders elected on interim basis to run the county offices were not eligible to run for any elective positions and should remain non-aligned to aspirants within their areas.
“The party also wishes to caution supporters against causing confusion or commotion during the election of such officials. The party believes in democracy and would like every member to respect the will of the majority and express their grievances within the laid down party structures,” he said in a statement.
