Super petrol will retail at Sh113.68 in Nairobi – a Sh1.58 drop/XINHUA-File

NAIROBI, Kenya, Nov 14 – Fuel pump prices have gone down slightly, as the Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC) announced that a litre of super petrol will now retail at Sh113.68 in Nairobi – a Sh1.58 drop – between November 15 and December 14.

The ERC also lowered the price of diesel by Sh0.26 to Sh105.85 while Kerosene has gone down by Sh1.14 to retail at Sh84.87 per litre in Nairobi.
In a statement the commission explained that the drop was occasioned by the slump in the international fuel prices and the importation cost despite the unstable exchange rate.

Mombasa residents will purchase the commodity the cheapest with a litre of super petrol retailing at Sh110.42, diesel Sh102.62 while kerosene will retail at Sh82.07 a litre.

The cost of fuel remains highest in Mandera with a litre of super of petrol going for Sh126.20 a litre, diesel for Sh118.37 while Kerosene will go for Sh97.39.

In Nakuru, a litre of super of petrol will go for Sh114.26, diesel will retail at Sh106.66 while kerosene will be sold at Sh85.63. Motorist in Kisumu will buy a litre of super petrol at Sh115.43, diesel Sh107.83 and Sh86.65 for a litre of kerosene.

On the other hand, in Eldoret super petrol will retail at Sh115.38, diesel Sh107.77 while kerosene will go for Sh86.65.

The drop gives slight reprieve to motorists who last month were hit by a sharp increase of the commodity where super petrol went up by Sh6.31 in Nairobi to Sh115.26 a litre, Kerosene went up by Sh6.36 to Sh86.01 a litre while diesel dropped by Sh5.04 to retail at Sh106.11 a litre

The ERC at the time attributed the hike in prices to upward trends in the price of crude and refined petroleum products in the international market in month of September.
