NAIROBI, Kenya, Oct 21 – The Kenya police on Sunday released photographs of four terror suspects who are believed to have plans to attack Nairobi and Mombasa.

Police spokesman Eric Kiraithe said the four, who are of Kenyan origin include Hassan Omondi Owiti, Shaban Namusenda Makotse, Yassin Olunga Ndungu, and Ali Masadiq.

Speaking to journalist at Police Headquarters, Kiraithe said police have a collection of evidence that indicates they have been involved in various acts of terrorism.

“Shaban is a Luhya from Mumias but has adopted a strong Kiswahili accent to camouflage himself and he is of medium build. Ali Masadiq is small bodied and can easily pass as a primary school pupil. He is mainly used to carry out surveillance on potential terrorism targets and convey firearms and grenades,” explained Kiraithe.

“We don’t have very good photographs as you can see, because they are taken by surveillance cameras, but the suspects can be seen well,” said Kiraithe.

He added that four persons are also suspected to have been trained in Somalia and have links with the Al Shabaab militia group.

“Evidence in the possession of the police indicates that they have also been involved in various acts of terrorism in Nairobi and Mombasa. The four are currently believed to be on the run inside Kenya and planning attacks in Nairobi and Mombasa again,” Kiraithe said.

At the same time the police spokesman has called on any person who may know the whereabouts of Faud Abubakar, a terrorist suspect who was recently charged in Mombasa and released on bond to report to any police station, warning that he may have criminal plans.

“The said Abubakar was charged in Mombasa law courts earlier this year together with Jermaine Grant for criminal offences of being in possession of explosives, being a member of an organized group and preparation to commit felony,” he said.

The Police are now calling on the members of the public to be vigilant and give the police any information concerning the five suspects.

“We would like to warn the public that these persons named maybe armed and dangerous,” he cautioned.

The announcement comes at a time when cases of terror attacks have increased, especially after the Kenya Defence Forces entered Somalia in pursuit of Shabaab who are behind most of the attacks.
