Mudavadi will join me soon – Raila

SABATIA, Kenya, Sep 29 – Prime Minister Raila Odinga on Saturday said he was confident his former Orange Democratic Party (ODM) deputy, Musalia Mudavadi would soon reconsider his decision to abandon him.

The premier told Mudavadi’s constituents that he was still in good terms with their MP despite his move to decamp from ODM.

He insisted that they were still good friends despite the development but was optimistic that their political paths were likely to converge at some point in the near future.

“We are still friends because as you can recall I bailed him out of political oblivion and I am looking forward to work with him even in the future when such need arises,” he said.

Odinga advised leaders not to personalize political difference but embrace healthy competition to promote national unity.

“Kenyans have the liberty to make political choices that must be respected to foster harmony and peaceful coexistence during and after the elections,” he said.

The Premier made the remarks during the funeral of renowned music scholar and composer Dr Arthur Kemoli who died last week after suffering diabetes for more than a decade.

The late artist composed patriotic songs and poems during President Daniel Moi’s tenure.

Meanwhile, Deputy Prime Minister Musalia Mudavadi arrived in London on Saturday for a three-day tour after a attending the 67th Session of the UN General Assembly in New York.

“The DPM will open an UDF party chapter office and meet Kenyans and friends of Kenya in Britain today,” said a statement from his office.
